Build A notes (Opus 5.5, 2026-09-26)
Live: https://rehearsalroom.gregspero.com/build/a/
Source of truth: make_elements.py writes elements.json; build.py inlines it plus textures into template.html and writes index.html.
Frame: origin at the NW corner, +X east, +Z south, inches in the data, 1 unit = 1 ft in the scene.
Placement
- 100 elements, every one listed in elements.json with position, size and material. Click any object to see its card.
- Booth sits south of the room at the traced size. Its SW corner is a curve of r 60 in centred at (120, 300.5).
- Slider: two framed glass leaves in the opening x 86..144, with a header and a floor track.
- Closet: x 146.28..180, z 213.5..259.5. Door D-2 is 36 in, on the west face, hinged south, with a louvered return-air grille.
- Entry door D-3 is on the west wall at z 223..259. Both doors are two-panel leaves with lever handles and casings.
- Piano K-01 is at z 79, north of the bar. The brief contradicts itself: "to the right facing west" is north, but its parenthetical says south. The approved final image puts it north, so the model follows the image.
- Guitar wall: 10 instruments on a 102 in face with 52 in of clear height above the display. They hang on two staggered standoffs, basses at 100 in and guitars at 88.5 in, so the rows overlap in depth by design.
Departures from the concept
- Bar top is 54 in, not the 48 in in the concept. 48 in is below a standing elbow and reads as a counter; 54 in is a standard back-bar height for a bottle display.
- Floor is a dark oak luxury vinyl plank overlay rather than the existing light floor, to match the approved image.
- Drum kit is natural maple lacquer, matching the Yamaha kit in Greg's photos, rather than the black kit in the concept.
Assumptions
- Room dimensions come from Greg's May 2026 tape, which is unverified. The booth, closet and doors come from the 2024 labeled plan.
- Grille size is assumed at 24 x 12 in.
- Booth ceiling is assumed at 102 in, the same as the room.
- The slight bow in the booth's west wall is not modeled. That wall is straight.
Light budget
26 real-time lights. Fixtures that share a circuit share lights, so 12 downlight cans are lit by 8 spots and 4 track heads by 3 spots.
| Circuit | Lights | Lounge | Session | Work | Meditation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| cove (LED cove, arch bleed, mirror reveal, hemisphere fill) | 6 point + hemi | .9 | 1.0 | .45 | .22 |
| down (recessed cans) | 8 spot | .32 | 1.0 | .45 | 0 |
| track (guitar wall) | 3 spot | .6 | 1.0 | .5 | 0 |
| shelf (bottles, bar front, piano lamp) | 3 | 1.0 | .6 | .25 | .3 |
| desk (task, display, rack) | 2 | .4 | .9 | 1.0 | 0 |
| booth (downlights, fill) | 2 spot + 1 point | .55 | 1.0 | .45 | .3 |
| candle (table LEDs) | 1 | 1.0 | 0 | 0 | 1.0 |
Exposure per scene: lounge 1.5, session 2.0, work 1.55, meditation 1.3. The booth never goes dark, so the kit reads through the slider in every scene.
Reflections
- The ceiling mirror inset and the cracked-mirror wall use planar reflections with 4x MSAA.
- Two cube probes feed environment maps: one in the lounge, one in the booth for chrome, cymbals and drum shells.
Performance
Headed Chromium 1400 x 900, Metal, pixel ratio capped at 1.5. About 565 draw calls and 74k triangles.
| Viewpoint | Local fps | Live fps |
|---|---|---|
| entry | 120 | 115.3 |
| mirror wall | 120.7 | 94.0 |
| ceiling | 104.7 | 120.7 |
| booth | 121 | 120.3 |
Known gaps
- The sectional reads dark up close in the lounge scene. That is the lounge mood; session lighting shows the leather clearly.
- Booth fabric panels read warm under the 2700K lights.
